hello
Hi Friend!
So you want to know a little about me? Well, I’d like to think that my photography career started when I was 15 years old and bought my first SLR camera on the old El Toro Military base with my aunt. She was a photographer in the Army and I idolized her. I saved all my money from childhood and spent the whopping $500 on my first Canon camera and kit. That was the day I stop taking pictures of my Barbie dolls with a Polaroid and started taking pictures of anything and anyone that would let me.
So, while my photography career started with film and using a dark room, I eventually switch to a digital camera and a computer. I took all the photography classes that I could that were local to me at schools like Mt. SAC and Tri-Community. I started shooting weddings about 16 years ago, on film and moved my focus to newborns when the last of my own 4 children was born in 2011. But, before I photographed anyone else’s newborn, I mentored with one of the original and best (in my humble opinion) newborn photographer around, Robin Long.
Mentoring with Robin really helped me recognize the importance of education and I have since taken many wedding photography and newborn photography workshops. I think it’s so important, especially when handling newborn babies, that we stay on top of new techniques and practices in the newborn photography field.
In fact, I went to so many workshops and became so involved in the newborn photography industry, that I even started another business where I sell newborn photography backdrops and props to other newborn photography photographers across the United States.
If I am not shooting or editing, you will probably find me driving kids around to activities, I have four children age 25, 18, 13, and 11 that keep me busy. If I’m lucky enough to have any time to myself, I’ll probably be reading a book or listening to a podcast. I am also super fascinated with the Enneagram (Enneagram 7 here) so I love to read up on that and work on self-improvement. As a person, and especially as a mom, I love experiencing new things and I am constantly looking for things that will he can do together as a family. I love traveling and introducing my kids to new places and cultures.
My sense of adventure and love of family has really helped shape my photography and find my purpose. I’d love to connect with you and see if I can help you with your photography needs.
